The MEET Villa is a multi-sector collaboration that celebrates culture and innovation. 3D printed and powered by solar energy, the MEET Villa combines modern technologies with Emirati heritage.
CyBe Construction was invited by the American University of Sharjah and GCC Ginco LLC to lead the MEET Villa construction in technology, education, and mechanical training. The clients’ goals were to position Sharjah as a preferred destination for future architects and architectural projects, and to become a global leader in 3D concrete printed construction. CyBe also worked with the university to conduct research within the scope of 3D concrete printing.
The MEET Villa is the first 3D printed villa whose design is inspired by Emirati heritage and architecture. The engineering utilized state-of-the-art technology to illustrate the country’s rich traditional roots. Built in the Sharjah Research Technology and Innovation Park (SRTI Park) and powered by solar energy, its realization was a collaboration between government, academia, and the private sector. AUS’s emphasis is on applied scientific research between students, faculty, and partner companies, such as MEET.
The MEET Villa’s academic collaboration led to increased mastery of the printing process. During this build process, CyBe carried out design and engineering education and operational training at the same time throughout the project. CyBe also guided the 3D concrete printing in the extreme weather conditions, adjusting parameters as necessary. Collectively, this resulted in obtaining nuanced knowledge about the production and printing process. This pioneering project lays the groundwork for further research in fourth generation building technologies.
