This 3D printed concrete house in the Sharjah Research Technology and Innovation Park was a collaborative effort between the Sharjah government, the American University of Sharjah, and private parties.
3D Concrete Printing found its origin in 1996. Since that time, technology has developed immensely. However, 3DCP is still not a widely used construction method. In order to secure the correct way of using this advanced technique, CyBe Construction developed several educational programs to provide more insight in the use of hardware, software and materials. Together, we keep learning continuously and accomplish amazing results.
Reverse engineering and industrial construction are two main principles our 3D concrete printing philosophy is based on. For optimal efficiency, it is mandatory that everything is scheduled and a certain flow arises, it is crucial that all the equipment keeps running. Furthermore with industrial construction it’s possible to create short sequences while using machinery – like a 3D concrete printer – combined with assembling prefab elements, such as; a prefab roof, plug-and-play installations, assembly of window frames, kitchen and sanitary.
Required skills & qualities
We strongly value the quality of 3D concrete printing operators. Therefore, we have created a set of requirements that potential trainees must possess in order to be eligible for our training & education programs. We expect candidates to meet the following requirements:
– Advanced English, both spoken and written
– BSc Education and work experience as Construction Engineers
– Eye for Digital data conversion to Spatial Insight
– Experience with 3D modeling and software
– Hands-on mentality
Experiential training approach
We learn by doing. Our education methodologies for the longer education programs are based on experiential learning. This is a continuous learning process where experience is transformed into knowledge. The 3-stage cycle starts from learners being immersed in an experience and making a reflective observation that allows them to develop abstract concepts or theories. As a result, learners are encouraged to experiment and apply those concepts or theories in the next practice.
Depending on the course, topics and level of education the course will be concluded with a certificate. To give an example, every 3D printer operator that successfully completed the 3D print operator course, will receive the accessory certificate.
Successful completion of said Operator course relies on being sufficiently skilled with the various systems that come into play for operating, such as the Mix Pump System, the crawler and of course the robot itself. Other than that we expect trainees to have a basic understanding of logistics and strategy in regards to 3D concrete printing. While training operators is currently our main focus, we are also available for training in other relevant areas, such as 3D Modelling for 3DCP and applying 3DCP to your personalized business model.
