What are eco-friendly homes?
Eco-friendly homes, also known as sustainable homes or eco homes, are thoughtfully designed structures that prioritize the well-being of our planet and its inhabitants. Eco home construction typically has a reduced carbon footprint, either due to the building method having fewer CO2 emissions, the building material being more sustainable, or both. Sustainable homes are often associated with reduced energy needs as well. In reality, there are numerous ways in which a home can qualify as sustainable. Apart from being produced in an eco-friendly manner, it could also incorporate renewable energy sources like solar panels and wind turbines. Some homes even increase biodiversity, for example, by integrating living spaces for wildlife or including vegetation in their design. Even the paint you use can contribute to the sustainability of your home. Although all these different factors can contribute to a more eco-friendly home, the building’s construction method and material are still the biggest factors in the sustainability of your house. According to the Construction Industry Council (CIC), construction accounts for 38% of global carbon emissions. Therefore, to build a sustainable home, it is essential to consider the building method and building material.
What are sustainable building materials?
Sustainable building materials form the foundation of eco homes. These materials are sourced and produced in an environmentally conscious and responsible manner, so that they reduce environmental impact. The production of sustainable building materials generally has lower energy needs and results in fewer carbon emissions. Building materials can also be sustainable for other reasons. They could, for example, offer insulation benefits. Construction with these materials with optimized insulation would lead to an energy-efficient home, promoting sustainable living in the long run. Sustainable materials can also be produced using waste materials. Materials produced this way have the benefit of reducing the demand for natural resources while providing a solution for the disposal of waste materials. To determine whether a building material is sustainable, one must consider the energy needs and emissions associated with its production and construction, as well as its impact on the environment after construction is finished. Our ecological homes
At CyBe, sustainability is a core value when it comes to the construction of homes. We strive to consider all aspects of durability during our sustainable housing development process. Our building method, 3D concrete printing, offers various environmental benefits. The technique allows for clever sustainable house designs, which optimize the use of material, resulting in less material needed overall. Our technology also minimizes waste material by up to 90% compared to traditional construction methods. Furthermore, our material, CyBe Mortar, is significantly more environmentally friendly than traditional building materials. The eco-friendly material reduces CO2 emissions by up to 32% compared to conventional cement-based mortars. It incorporates eco-friendly building materials, including recycled aggregates and supplementary cementitious materials, which contribute to a lower carbon footprint. The material is also durable and suitable for various environments, even in critical applications. Additionally, our mortar can be produced locally, reducing emissions associated with transportation. Moreover, homes built with our material meet and exceed the standard of energy-efficiency, allowing you to live sustainably. Additionally, clients interesting in 3D printing in Texas can also choose for our partner Hive3D’s sustainable material.
Our nature-friendly home designs
Our ecological homes go beyond being produced environmentally friendly. In addition to sustainable construction, our nature-friendly home designs also incorporate nature in different ways. An example of this would be our modular homes, which are produced using the concept of Prefabricated Prefinished Volumetric Construction (PPVC). These housing modules contain a number of climate mitigation and adaptation strategies, providing a future-proof, nature-friendly solution. They are integrated with vegetation, improving air quality and offering natural passive cooling and ventilation. The walls are also printed in a way that they can serve as a host for biodiversity. Our PPVC modules are equipped with rainwater harvesting, providing an eco-friendly and resource-efficient solution for collecting, storing, and utilizing rainwater for various sustainable purposes. Our homes come with the advantages of being built with durable material, in a sustainable way, while promoting environmentally-friendly living for the homeowner. With CyBe as your eco home builder, you can be sure your house is sustainable in every way imaginable!
Environmentally conscious housing isn’t the only sustainable activity we undertake at CyBe. We actively embrace the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to shape a brighter and greener future. The SDGs are a comprehensive set of global objectives aimed at addressing social, economic, and environmental challenges to achieve a more sustainable and equitable future. As can be seen in the picture below, we are currently committed to addressing 11 different Sustainable Development Goals. For example, we provide a learning platform where high-quality education is shared via our academy. We also contribute to sustainable cities and communities by providing affordable housing worldwide, for example through our collaboration with SAHIF aimed at tackling the South African housing crisis. We focus even on less attainable SDGs like life underwater, by developing artificial reefs and living seawalls that promote the ocean’s biodiversity and protect our shorelines from erosion. At CyBe Construction we don’t just think about sustainability – we actively pursue it!
